Important information about the LO300 event

Now that we can do it, we have an exciting, in-person, shoreline event for the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge presented by driveHG and you won’t want to miss it! My apologies for this long post, but there is a lot happening and we don’t want you to miss any of it.

We understand that there are still various degrees of comfort level with COVID 19, so we are hosting everything outside and it is a mask friendly event.

Friday is a big day. Check in starts at 1000. Come early to pick up your backstay flag (we no longer have environmentally unfriendly bow stickers), YB tracker, and cool swag. Then, treat yourself to some automotive eye candy from driveHG on the lawn. If you have forgotten anything, pick it up from the Fogh Marine pop up tent and then peruse other sponsor offerings in their tents on the lawn. We’ll have a steel band playing in the afternoon to set the mood as you sip a cocktail on the PCYC patio.

Dinner tickets must be pre purchased.

PCYC is planning a delicious Race BBQ in the evening. The dinner cost is $25 and tickets must be pre-purchased by calling 905-278-7911 Ext 0 or emailing davids@pcyc.net. Please coordinate purchase of the tickets with your crew or let them know to buy them. The prepaid tickets will be available for pick up at the check in table. For easier pick up please make sure you add your boat name when you order your dinner

Participant’s meeting

All are welcome to the Participants’ Meeting at 1900. Important race information will be discussed and there will be door prizes donated by our sponsors to be won. NKE has stepped up with special prize of 1x fluxgate compass and one Standard Mast Head Unit plus mount and cable! You’ll want to be there to win that!

Access Abilities Pre-Race Breakfast / Skipper’s Plan Post-Race Chilli / Team Challenge

We are thrilled to announce that our Saturday morning Pre-Race breakfast is back now sponsored by Access Abilities as is our Post-Race, Skipper’s Plan chili. Both are free for all racers.

We are however sorry to announce that we are not able to coordinate a Team Challenge this year, but plan to hold it again next year.

Random Post Race Inspections will be conducted

The previous practice of random post race inspections returns. In addition to checking compliance from several lists of select requirements, the following will be included in post-race inspections:

- That the applicable Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) is programed into the boats VHF radio, provided it supports DSC. A free MMSI can be obtain from the Government of Canada by CLICKING HERE.

- That the boat’s crew list represents the crew that raced and has accurate information. As this information needs to be accurate and crew changes can occur right up to the start, this cannot be verified during the check-in process. To view a YouTube video on this, CLICK HERE.

Boats found with deficiencies during random post race inspections, will be protested by the LOOR’s Technical Committee.

Videos/Pictures from your Boat

New this year, we will be posting and streaming all pictures and videos sent to info@loor.ca during the race. Show your beautiful sunset/sunrise pictures, crazy crew antics, or exciting action videos to all your friends before you get home. There will be a bottle of Rum to the most popular post!

The LOOR Team and I look forward to seeing you all there!
