LOOR – Lake Ontario Offshore Racing 2020 April 6
The LOOR committee met last week to make some difficult decisions. We know clubs around the lake are closed and have not even been able to provide a date for launch. We are living through a difficult time.
Knowing the launch situation, it is obvious that several of our events such as the Susan Hood Trophy Race and the first three LOSHRS races cannot proceed as planned. We considered attempting to reschedule but with the already crowded racing calendar because of the short season and the uncertain future for the rest of the summer and fall, we felt it is best to cancel these events.
The remaining events – the LO300/600, the LOSHRS Races 4 (100miler), 5 and 6, may also be cancelled, but we have a bit of time to make the final decision on those races. We will make the final decision on the LO300/600 at our May 7th meeting.
We have assured you that we will provide you with a full refund, and we will commence doing this for the Susan Hood as soon as we can. For those that have paid for the full LOSHRS series, we will also give you a full refund and let you know how much registration fees will be for any races we can host.
We have promised to refund the full amount, and will do so, but wanted you to know that there are still costs associated with your registration. Yachtscoring, credit card, PayPal fees and other administrative expenses still apply and we still have boat show expenses for both 2020 and 2021. Our sponsors are not able to help us in these troubled times, so I’d like to reach out and ask those that can, to sponsor us. Waiving your refund or donating any small amount will keep us going and we will continue planning our great events. COVID-19 Update

The health and safety of our committee, partners, participants, fellow sailors, friends and family is a top priority. The Lake Ontario Offshore Racing Committee has been closely monitoring the situation with the fast-moving spread of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) and has made the following decisions regarding the upcoming 2020 Race Season:
• CANCELLED. The Susan Hood Trophy Race (SHTR) – Friday, May 29th. Full refunds for all participants are starting to be processed.
• CANCELLED. Races 1-3 of Lake Ontario Short-Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS) – Sunday, May 31st, Saturday, June 13th, Sunday, June 14th. Full refunds for all participants are starting to be processed.
• We continue to plan for the LO300/600 and Races 4-6 of LOSHRS. Separate Race registration will be required for Races 4-6.
• We continue to monitor the latest updates from the World Health Organization, Health Canada, and Ontario Public Health regarding the international and regional situation
