Bluffers Basin Gears Up to Welcome LOSHRS Racers on June 21, 2025. Scarborough, ON —
Excitement is building at Bluffers Basin as three local sailing clubs prepare to host racers from the Lake Ontario Short-Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS) on Saturday, June 21, between Races 2 and 3 of the season. This year’s gathering will be hosted by Highland Yacht Club (HYC) with help from Bluffers Park Yacht Club (BPYC) and Bluffers Park Marina (BPM), all of whom are eager to welcome racers into their harbour. “We’re thrilled to see Bluffers Basin buzzing with activity again,” said a representative from HYC. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for racers to connect with our community and enjoy some great hospitality between races.”
If you need a slip at PCYC anywhere during the weekend please fill out the online form HERE.
Dockage and Arrival Details.
Racers arriving at Bluffers Basin will be treated to a free reciprocal night, courtesy of the host clubs. Some rafting will be required, so sailors are reminded to bring fenders and a cooperative spirit. Volunteers will be stationed on the docks to assist with slip assignments and tie-ups. Vessels should hail on VHF channel 68 prior to entering the basin. Those wishing to avoid rafting may contact Bluffers Park Marina directly at (416) 266-4556 to arrange for paid dockage.
Saturday Night Festivities
After the day’s racing, sailors are invited to unwind at Highland Yacht Club for an evening of food, drinks, and live entertainment. The bar opens at 4:00 PM (debit/credit only). A food truck will be serving dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 PM (pay-as-you-go). From 6:00 to 10:00 PM, local band Double the Pleasure will perform live on the HYC patio, providing the soundtrack to what promises to be a memorable evening. Between sets, HYC will be running Kahoot Sailing Trivia games for you to test your knowledge and memory!
At 9:45 there will be a Fireworks Display!
Sunday Morning Fare:
To fuel up before returning to the water, HYC’s Social Committee will offer two convenient food options: Continental breakfast ($10): Includes coffee, juice, cereal, pastries, and fruit. Boxed lunch ($10): A race-ready meal with a sandwich, cookie, and fruit.
Sign-Up Required: To help organizers prepare for arrivals and meals, participants are asked to complete the official sign-up form. Slip assignments will be distributed to skippers the week leading up to the event. The host clubs are encouraging all racers to take part in what they hope will be a highlight of the 2025 LOSHRS season.
“We’re looking forward to a fantastic weekend of racing and camaraderie,” said Sean Matthews, Fleet Captain of HYC. “Let’s make it one to remember!”
